SoCal FreeNet was approached by an individual in the Clairmont area interested in donating bandwidth. He is currently running 4 T-1's into his home for his business, but doesn't use all the bandwidth all the time and would like to share.

This is a great resource and we are working on a strategy of how best to utitilize it. The first step is to set up an omni antenna and a 200 mW radio on the roof. This step is mostly waiting on the new Linux/MIPS powered AP from www.netgate.com to come out....hopefully this week or next.

After that, we would like to create a directional link or two to channel this bandwidth to areas that need it. So down the road, we will be looking for people in the Clairmont area with tall vantage points (tall buildins, houses on hills) willing to put some equipment on their roof.

One specific point of interest is the large Hyatt Hotel in the Mission Beach area. He has Line Of Site to the hotel, as do I from my house in Ocean Beach. Does anyone have connections to the Hyatt that could get us a repeater/bridge on that roof?
